How to Speed Up a Slow Windows 10/11 PC
Why is my Windows PC so slow?

A slow Windows PC is usually caused by too many startup programs, a nearly full or ageing hard drive, pending updates, malware, or simply too little RAM. Working through these in order resolves most slowdowns.

Trim startup programs

Open Task Manager → Startup and disable apps you don't need at boot. Fewer startup programs means a faster login and more free memory.

Free up and upgrade storage

Keep at least 15% of your drive free. The single biggest speed upgrade for an older PC is replacing a hard disk (HDD) with an SSD.

Update Windows and drivers

Install pending Windows and driver updates - they often fix performance and security issues. Then restart fully.

Check for malware and add RAM

Run a malware scan, and if the PC is still slow with heavy multitasking, adding RAM (to 8–16GB) makes a big difference. Cybergate can supply and fit SSD/RAM upgrades.
